one.
I did not know that I would be embarking on my THIRD Southeast Asia trip today until about 1 month ago when plans to do a South America trip fell through. This trip has caught me by surprise with the sudden changes that have occurred recently.
I gave myself last year's Southeast Asia trip to somehow find some solace in marking the 2 year anniversary of my father's premature death. Since my return home from last year's trip, my grad school friend Claire also passed away. She and I planned a trip together to India after our graduation as a gift to ourselves, which, just like the South America trip, did not wind up in the cards. So this time around, I am feeling a strong pull to visit certain places to indirectly pay tribute to her. That's right, in my 2nd month, I'm going to visit India...
I am leaving for the airport in about an hour and a half. This trip has left me slightly more nervous than trips of the past but simultaneously way more at ease - I will know someone at almost every destination I make it to. This third Southeast Asia backpacking jaunt of mine will include Bangkok for a couple of days, Myanmar, Vietnam (Ninh Binh), Hong Kong, Macau, and finally India.
Let's see what new lessons, surprises, and adventures these places will bring!!
